Family Martial Arts Center Karate School Now Offering Classes in Fanwood

After a very successful partnership since April, 2020 with Fanwood Recreation teaching karate classes both outdoors and via Zoom to local residents, Scotch Plains resident and karate school owner Adam Sackett is excited to announce the expansion of his school to Fanwood. Family Martial Arts Center opened in Parsippany, NJ in 2012, and ever since has been renowned for their excellence in karate instruction to people of all ages. Family Martial Arts Center is a part of American Budo Kai, one the largest karate associations in the Northeast for the past 40 years. Now with a second location, Family Martial Arts Center is excited to bring their goal of “Making Champions In Life” to local residents.

Classes will be offered both indoors and virtually. Indoor classes will be held at Le Pari Dance Center on 34 South Avenue Fanwood. Indoor classes for children, teens, and adults will be held on Monday and Thursday nights. Virtual classes will be taught via Zoom on Wednesday and Friday nights, as well as Saturday mornings. Classes start on Monday, November 2. To encourage enrollment, Family Arts Center of Fanwood is offering two classes free before enrollment (can be done indoors or on Zoom).

School owner Adam Sackett is thrilled to bring his caring, patient, award recognized teaching style to local residents. Adam had some comments to share.

“I began my karate training as a youth in the mid 80s and began teaching in 1997. I am currently a sixth degree black belt in the style of karate I teach, Isshinryu Karate. Many students who took my outdoors classes through Fanwood Recreation, I'm glad to stay are going to continue their training when we move indoors. However, I want to welcome all to try a class. On top of my Fanwood classes, I have been instructing many local residents via small pod classes and plan to continue to make a positive impact in my students' lives. The great thing about karate is it's an individual activity in a group setting. Anyone can do it, and I guarantee my classes are fun, educational, positive, energy filled and one leaves with a sense of content and accomplishment. For indoor classes, all COVID-19 health protocols are followed and safety is stressed.”
