BOUND BROOK,  NJ — Raritan Valley Line train service was suspended in both directions early this afternoon due to a trespasser fatality near Bound Brook station, according to New Jersey Transit. 

According to NJ Transit Public Relations Department, just before 1 p.m. on Monday, a Newark-bound Raritan Valley Line train with 35 customers on board struck and fatally injured an adult male just east of the Bridgewater NJ Transit rail station.  There were no other injuries.

Service on the Raritan Valley Line was temporarily suspended for about an hour in both directions due to the incident, but resumed just before 2:30 pm.  It is expected that 10 to 15 minute delays will be experienced throughout the evening peak hour.

As the investigation is ongoing with NJ Transit Police remaining at the scene, the name of the victim has yet to be released.
