The First Baptist Church of Westfield is hosting a “Church Gathered, Church Scattered” event on Sunday, April 26. This event is a time for the congregation and other interested participants to serve the surrounding communities in an impactful way. Volunteers from outside the church are welcome, according to Cheryl Rosario, chairperson of the event.

Those who choose to volunteer will be partnered with one of five local nonprofits depending on their interests. Anyone who wishes to participate will have the opportunity to put together hygiene kits for Church World Service, make lunches for St. Joseph’s Social Service Center, spend quality time with our elderly neighbors at Manor Care or The Cliffs, and help our four legged friends at Cherrybrook Pet Supplies. In its approach to outreach and service, the “Church Gathered, Church Scattered” team has committed itself to finding service opportunities for people of all ages and interests.

Each event shuffles the outreach opportunities in order to help achieve this end. The last “Church Gathered, Church Scattered” event held on October 19 had about 55 people volunteer through the program. The First Baptist Church of Westfield is hoping to see an increase in that number with this month’s opportunities. Contact: Rev. Kadin J.G.
