WESTFIELD, NJ — Four Westfield firefighters who were promoted to lieutenant in March were officially sworn in to their new roles during Tuesday night’s town council meeting: Louis N. Cerchio III, Benjamin B. Corbin, Aldo N. Tammaro and Matthew A. Pereira.

“It’s nice to see so many friends and family members here tonight,” Westfield Fire Chief David Kelly said as the ceremony began. He thanked Mayor Andy Skibitsky, all the members of the town council and Town Administrator Jim Gildea for their support, which he said made the promotions possible.

Skibitsky congratulated the newly sworn-in lieutenants and their families.

“Thank you for the work that you do. The reason they call you the bravest is because of what you do,” he said. “Thank you, God bless you and stay safe.”
