WESTFELD, NJ — From Dec. 16 to Jan. 1, the town of Westfield is giving shoppers, diners and visitors to Downtown Westfield the gift of free metered parking at designated 2-hour on-street meters and 4-hour parking lot pay stations.
Just don’t plan to hog your spot — while parking in these spaces is free, restrictions and time limits will be still be enforced to ensure turnover.
To find the free parking spots, look for the red bags placed over the meters and pay stations.
Also this Saturday and Sunday, The Marketspace at Westfield will be open for a third weekend at 151 East Broad St. The pop-up market, which features a variety of different vendors each day, was originally slated for just two weekends.
“The pop-up holiday market received an overwhelming amount of interest,” Kim Kraemer of Marketspace Vendor Events said. According to Kraemer, the first weekend alone attracted more than 3,500 customers. Other businesses downtown benefited from the higher foot traffic brought by the market, she said.
“It was a success for local small business on all accounts,” Kraemer said.
Free holiday entertainment continues this weekend downtown, as does the Downtown Westfield Corporation’s Miracle on Elm Street shopping spree contest. Pick up an entry form at a Downtown Westfield business or restaurant, fill it out and place it in one of the special mailboxes located at the corner of Elm Street and East Broad Street or on the corner of South Avenue West and Summit Avenue and you could win a $50 gift card. Mailed entries or on-line entries also accepted. For more details, click here.
