BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Funeral services will take place Wednesday for Eric Hagen, the 15-year-old who was killed in a car accident in Plainfield the day after Christmas.

Hagen's services are being arranged by Paul Ippolito Memorial at 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights. The full obituary can be found at http://www.ippolitofuneralhomes.com/. 

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral will take place on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Little Flower (Upper Church) Roosevelt Avenue, Berkeley Heights. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.

Hagen and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School student Tyler Devaney were killed in a 6 a.m. crash in Plainfield, according to reports that said the car they were in struck a tree and flipped.
 
Berkeley Heights Schools Superintendent Judith Rattner on Sunday announced Hagen's death on the district website. Hagen attended Woodruff Elementary School, Columbia Middle School and Gov. Livingston High School.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts and hearts go out to the family in this difficult time," said Rattner. "It is our goal to support all of our students during this challenging time and provide available resources to our families. As a result of this event, your child may have some unresolved feelings that he/she would like to discuss with you. You can help by listening carefully and offering support to your child."

The high school had grief counselors available Monday afternoon and plans to have counselors in place to support the students and staff upon their return to school on Jan. 4.
