CLARK, NJ — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School varsity girls soccer team won its sixth straight Union County championship, 2-1, against Westfield Saturday.  The Blue Devils entered the matchup as the underdogs statistically, as they had only outscored their opponents 28-20, while the Raiders have blown away opponents all year, outscoring them 67-3.

Blue Devil Hannah Liddy scored the team’s lone goal with an assist by Hannah Hawkins. Westfield goalkeeper Lizzie Brucia made six saves, but couldn’t stop Raiders Caroline Babis and Christina Rodgers from scoring one goal each.

SP-F’s Sophie Brause had one assist, while their goalie Andrea Leitner made seven saves.

With this victory, the Raiders earned their 20th Union County title.
