WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield High School choir department will host the second annual Guys Night of Singing Friday, Oct. 25.
Boys in grades 7 – 12 along with dads and other father figures, are invited for a night of men’s choral music beginning at 6 p.m. in the Westfield High School choir room.
The evening will kick off with a workshop-style event facilitated by Westfield High School Choir Director John Brzozowski and Franklin School music teacher and Westfield High School Mens Chorus Director Brent Geyer. Participants will sing together and learn a finale number to be sung later in the evening.
“We are so excited to present our second annual Guys Night of Singing in what we think is a unique, one-of-a-kind community event,” Brzozowski said. “It's really fun and inspiring to see dads, uncles, community members and the young people of Westfield coming together for the love of singing and making music.”
Also leading part of the workshop will be The GrooveBarbers, a men’s a cappella group featuring Westfield resident Kevin Weist, Sean Altman, Charlie Evett and Steve Keyes — who are former members of the pioneering contemporary a cappella group Rockapella.
Following the workshop will be a break for pizza, along with an optional jam session led by Roosevelt Intermediate School Vocal Music Teacher Sabino Losco, and a drum circle led by Westfield High School art teacher Roy Chambers.
At 8 p.m., the public is invited to attend a concert featuring the Westfield High School Men’s Chorus, a set by the GrooveBarbers and a special Guys Night of Singing finale with all participants.
