WESTFIELD, NJ — Holiday festivities continue in Downtown Westfield this month with musical entertainment sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation.
Every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23, visitors can enjoy roaming musical ensembles, such as the Yuletide Carolers, Watson Highlanders Bagpipe Band, NJ Workshop for the Arts Alphorns, NJ Workshop for the Arts Brass Quintet, The Harmonics and barbershop quartet Twisted Mustache.
The DWC is also responsible for Downtown Westfield’s festive winter banners and about 140 Christmas wreaths placed throughout the downtown, along with the large lit Christmas trees on both sides of the train station. The slogan “Welcome home to Westfield” and decorations are a throwback to Westfield's campaign to give a warm welcome to local soldiers returning from World War I, a message that still resonates with present-day visitors to the town, according to DWC Executive Director Sherry Cronin.
“The holidays are a special time for reuniting with family and loved ones, and many people come back to Westfield at this time of year,” Cronin said. “Whether it’s a student coming home from college or someone revisiting town after moving away, this is a great time to visit Westfield, particularly our wonderful downtown.”
