Holy Trinity School Celebrates 'Night at the Hoops'

In celebration of its successful 2016-2017 basketball season, Holy Trinity School held its annual “Night at the Hoops” where it celebrated its players, coaches, and fans.

This year, over 140 students from kindergarten through eighth grade participated in clinics and team play throughout the basketball season. As in past years, the teams from 3rd through 6th grade played in the Union County CYO League.  The Middle School level JV and Varsity teams played in a new school league this past season, the Morris County Catholic Basketball League (MCCBL).

Highlights of the season included the 5th/6th grade girls JV team capturing the title in their MCCBL Championship game.  The 5th/6th grade boys JV team also had a great season by winning both their CYO and MCCBL Championship games.

"It is been a long standing annual tradition at Holy Trinity to conclude the basketball season with "Night at the Hoops."  It is a fun night for everyone within the basketball community at Holy Trinity to get together and celebrate the season," said David Cushing, Holy Trinity School Athletic Director.  “The evening includes each team from kindergarten through eighth grade playing short scrimmages and celebrating after with ice cream and pizza.”

“I love seeing how much support each team receives from, not only their families, but also their fellow classmates,” said Tim Dursee, coach of the JV boys team.  “Often, we see students from other grades come to cheer on all the HT teams.  It is so great to see such tremendous school spirit.”

Since 1916, Holy Trinity School has provided a quality Catholic education to Westfield and the surrounding communities. A 2011 National Blue Ribbon and a Middle States accredited school, its mission is to educate students to actualize their full, individual potential both spiritually and academically.
