On Sunday, May 23, the Rusty Scott Trio will perform at the JCC of Central New Jersey in Scotch Plains as part of the JCC's Jazz at the J series. "This excellent band of musicians featuring pianist Rusty Scott and saxophonist Tim Mayer are among some of the tightest jazz "cats" you'll hear on the Boston jazz scene," writes Douglas Sloane from Metronome Magazine.
The Rusty Scott Trio has been together since 1995 and has been one of Boston's premier "straight-ahead" jazz bands. Nominated for a Boston Music Award for Best Jazz Band, they are often described as having that "Blue Note" sound. Performing both original compositions and jazz standards, they combine their diverse experiences into one creative and swinging sound which audiences love.
This event is 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the JCC's Weinberg Pavilion. A continental brunch, catered by Kosher Korner @ the J, will be served. Tickets for members are $30 and $35 for community participants. The brunch is included in the ticket cost.
