JCC to Host Touch a Truck May 15

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Kids of all ages will be able to get up-close and personal with all types of trucks and vehicles Sunday, May 15, at the JCC of Central NJ's free Touch a Truck event from 1-5 p.m., rain or shine.

Touch a Truck will give children the chance to get up close and explore vehicles they love watching from afar. All are welcome throughout the event, and there will be a special "Hold the Horn" hour from 1-2 p.m. for children with special needs and those with auditory sensitivity issues. No horns, music or sirens will be active during that time.  

The day will feature police cars, fire trucks, a department of public works truck and an ambulance, all from Scotch Plains first responders. There will also be a Union County Police Department bomb truck, a school bus, a variety of Elegant Homes construction trucks, Flemington Car and Truck Country luxury vehicles, a Panorama Tours coach bus and an excavator, tractor, dump truck and bulldozer from Messercola Excavating.

In addition to this hands-on experience, the JCC's Camp Yachad will add to the fun with bounce houses, crafts and games on their campsite at the JCC. Food will be available for purchase.

This event is free and open to the community. The JCC is located at 1391 Martine Avenue. Offsite parking and shuttle service will be available at the Union County Vocational Technical School campus at 1776 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains.  Visit www.jccnj.org for full details on the afternoon's events.
