Students in Key Clubs showed their spirit for community service in November. They decided to Spike Out Hunger
On November 22, Division 11 under the direction of Lt. Governor Julian Maceren and Division 14 Lt. Governor Stephania Gonzales combined forces to hold their Divisional Volleyball Tournament at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark. A proud Stephania reported, “We raised over $600 and 110 pounds of food!”
Ms. Laura Sodano from the New Jersey Community Food Banks was on hand to welcome the students and to thank them for their support of food insecure people in New Jersey.
In Stephania’s newsletter to her clubs, she thanked the students who helped make the event a success and especially to Arthur L. Johnson High School Key Club members under the leadership of Mrs. Ellen Zamboni for helping organize the event at the school with signs, balloons and a food table.
JP Stevens High School’s “Gym Class Scrubs” took home the 1st place trophy, and JFK Memorial’s “Team Dub” took home 2nd place. Stephania reports that Division 14 will be well represented at the District Tournament in February.
