Editor's Note: The following was sent both as a letter to the editor and a letter to Mayor Shelley Brindle.
Dear Mayor Brindle,
I am Neil Weiss a rising Westfield high school freshman and I believe kids should be able to ride their bikes in Brightwood Park. I myself have ridden my bike there multiple times, and it is a very good place for kids to have fun and learn how to mountain bike. I think it’s safer than riding our bikes in town or in the busy streets.
Bike riding is a very good way for kids to get outside and exercise and taking away places they can do it would be a bad idea. I have heard about people who live near the park that are spreading lies about bikers because they want to keep it to themselves. Mayor Brindle, please let the kids ride bikes in Brightwood park and thank you for taking our side on this issue.
