Dear Editor,

The shore traffic left town for the weekend.  For our first summer in Westfield, we finally had fabulous events planned for each day during the weekend.  My daughter and I had a long week with her summer camp and my day jobs, but we had plenty to be thankful for, especially wonderful summer weather in Westfield.

On Friday evening, we attended a beautiful Shabbat celebration with dinner at the JCC in Scotch Plains.  We met new people and celebrated family and traditional music while my daughter explored the playground.

On Saturday we attended the Westfield Police Benevolent Association's Car Show off of South Avenue.  My daughter and I posed for pictures with our favorite cars. We spent a nice afternoon listening to rock music and checking out colorful cars in this event that raised money for our community helpers.

On Sunday we attended the Westfield Winter Wonderland in July event on Quimby Street.  We were enchanted by the giant balloon Frosty, the snow machine, and the nostalgic holiday cheer on a sweltering summer day.  We met local business people and took more pictures that will make perfect holiday cards.

We finished off our Saturday and Sunday afternoons with a refreshing swim at the YMCA of Westfield. Best of all for my daughter, we chased lightning bugs every evening and looked at the moon, stars, and planets in the crepuscular sky.  We can both say that there is something truly remarkable about spending the weekend in town!

Sincerely,
