Summit Animal Rescue Association (S.A.R.A. cats) will host a Black and White Showcase event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pet Valu located at 977 Valley Rd. in Gillette. The purpose of this event is to showcase their black, white and black and white cats to generate awareness about Summit Animal Rescue Association (S.A.R.A. cats), and to help raise funds.
There will be 20 plus black, white and black and white cats and kittens available for adoption. A bake sale and cat product sale will also be included. Potential adopters can spin a prize wheel to win a cat related item. An approved application is required for all adoptions and prizes will be awarded to adopting families.
Lauren Hatzlhoffer, a local cat behaviorist, will be at the event to answer questions regarding cat behavior. She will be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Summit Animal Rescue Association, Inc (SARA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that operates primarily in Union, Morris and Middlesex counties. Their mission is to rescue cats, dogs, or any animal in need, give them medical attention, rehabilitate them, and provide a temporary, loving environment until permanent homes are found. Adoptions are held weekly at Petco in Parlin/Old Bridge. Pet Valu in Garwood and Gillette on Saturdays as they do not have a shelter rather all rescues are fostered in volunteer homes. In addition, SARA assists NJ residents with low-cost resources to spay and neuter feral cats in order to reduce the number of unwanted kittens in shelters. SARA has a proven track record for saving lives. Through tireless efforts they have found homes for over 6,000 animals since they began over 13 years ago. SARA’s entire staff is made up of volunteers, working in tandem with veterinarians who assist with discounted rates. 100 percent of all donations raised go directly to the care and feeding of the animals saved.
