The Westfield Board of Education unanimously appointed Sandra Mamary the new Supervisor of Athletics for the Westfield Public Schools, following the retirement of 25-year school veteran, Edward Tranchina. Since1987 Mamary served as Certified Athletic Trainer at Westfield High School, where she provided service to 1,200 student athletes annually on a total of 66 teams, including 26 varsity teams. She also serves as adjunct professor at Kean University and as a clinical coordinator at Montclair State, Seton Hall, as well as Kean.
Her selection was made following extensive interviews and reviews of more than 60 applications. The appointment was made official at the Board of Education's meeting on June 29. In her new role, effective July 15, she will be responsible for organizing and administering the overall program of extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic, for the Westfield Public School district. Mamary will also supervise the physical education department. She becomes the first female to head Westfield's athletic department. A graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education, Mamary also earned a Master in Educational Administration from Kean University.

Ms. Mamary has been an integral part of our successful athletic program for many years and I am confident that she will maintain our tradition of excellence here in Westfield for all our athletic programs. Ms. Mamary promises to be a wonderful addition to our administrative staff."
