Anna Mastoianni has filled some pretty big shoes in her day and not just because she’s the owner of the exquisite Italian shoe store Sole in Downtown Westfield. Turns out the Hollywood stunt double has a resume that would make your head spin, literally.

“One of my first jobs was racing a cherry red ’57 Chevy and stopping just inches away from a mailbox for the daytime drama Another World,” says Anna, who studied acting at The William Esper Studio in Manhattan.

From her soap opera beginnings, Anna went on to stand in for Goldie Hawn in the First Wives Club and Kate Winslet in Cigarettes and Romance while also doing commercials (think: Dunkin Donuts!) and voiceovers. But Jersey locals, here’s something to really fist pump about:  Anna was Drea DeMatteo’s doppleganger for the Sopranos!

These days Anna is keeping two feet on the ground, taking buying trips to Italy to stock her boutique with truly unique finds. “Most of our brands are not found anywhere else in the US,” explains Anna. “Walk in and you’ll find something special and perfect just for you.”

ANNA’S BEST LIST:

THE CAJUN CHICKEN SALAD AT SWEETWATERS. There’s nothing better than sitting at their outdoor tables on a sunny day and hugs from the staff.

COFFEE AT VICKI’S DINER. My day always starts with one of their great cups of coffee, once again, hugs from the staff.

VIEWS FROM THE WINDOWS AT SOLE. We are perfectly positioned to observe the life of this town and we feel privileged for it.

THE TRACK AT TAMAQUES PARK. I love going to the track there and walking after work.

HOT CHAMOMILE TEA WITH HONEY FROM CHOCOLATE BAR. And we have it hand delivered by our favorite barber, Michele, at Michelangelo’s!

We want to meet your neighbor next! Nominate a local Westfield resident on our Facebook page @bestfieldnj.

April 18, 2018

Having chaired the town council’s finance committee in the recent past, I appreciate the hard work that goes into developing a municipal budget for a town as large and dynamic as Westfield. But as I have expressed publicly and also to the mayor and my council colleagues, I do not support the adoption of Westfield’s 2018 municipal budget. Although the budget contains much that I ...

Why We Keep Kosher

Why We Keep Kosher

This week's parshah, Shemini, introduces the Torah's dietary laws. Animals must chew their cud and have split hooves to be kosher, fish need fins and scales, and a list of forbidden fowl is enumerated.

To those of us in Jewish education, it is a continuing source of disappointment that so many Jews still believe the kosher laws to be outdated.
