WESTFIELD, NJ — Morano Gelato held a grand-opening celebration Thursday night at its newest location, 116 Elm St. in Downtown Westfield. The event kicked off with a ribbon cutting with Mayor Andy Skibitsky, the Downtown Westfield Corporation and the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
Morano Gelato, which has been called “the Best Gelato in America” by Forbes, serves authentic Sicilian-style gelato in a variety of flavors, made each morning from Italian and local ingredients that are fresh and in-season, along with a variety of other Italian treats and beverages, including Illy espresso.
The company's Westfield shop is its first franchise, joining the flagship shop in Hanover, NH, and the company-owned shop in Chestnut Hill, MA. It’s owned and operated by Maurice Dayan, who spoke at a recent Westfield Town Council meeting:
“We are thrilled by, and grateful for, the wonderful reception so far received from Westfield,” Dayan said. “We could not have chosen a friendlier town in which to open.”
