Last week Oceans Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry, in Westfield, NJ, was one of only about 100 dental practices in New Jersey who participated in the Give Kids A Smile program. For GKAS Day, Dr. Aimee and Dr. Frank donated their time to provide free oral health education, screenings and treatment to under-served children!
The American Dental Association launched this program nationally in 2003 and since then more than 6 million under-served children have received free oral health services across the country.
The American Dental Association & New Jersey Dental Association organized this wonderful event. Oceans even had Mayor Brindle stop by to see what it’s all about.
“It’s so inspiring that you commit to volunteering your services locally,” commented the Mayor. The entire team at Oceans had their roller skates on all day while they moved and grooved to see all the kiddies in need.
A major goal for the day was to educate and teach to establish awesome future dental habits. Oceans always strives to ensure that teeth are strong & healthy to allow the focus in life to be on school, learning, art and sports rather than tooth pain!
February is also National Children’s Dental Health Month.
To help spread awareness & cheer about taking care of your teeth, Dr. Aimee and her Oceans team visit schools in the Westfield area & teach their students about how important their teeth are! Topics covered include a talk about teeth, how to brush and floss, why we need teeth & what foods & drinks are good and bad choices. The kids practice brushing and flossing, read books & receive special toothbrushes.
Oceans hopes not just this month but every month you make your teeth a priority to have a #smilethatmakeasplash!
