MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – Another serious crash sent one person to the hospital and tied up traffic on Route 22 mid-day Thursday.
Mountainside Police gave the following account of the crash:
At 11:43 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, Mountainside Police were called to respond to the area of Route 22 West, between the intersection of New Providence and Pembrook roads for a serious motor vehicle accident.
When police arrived, the preliminary investigation indicated a 2011 Isuzu Model NPR box truck struck the rear of a 1997 Mack tri ale dump truck as the vehicles were merging into the left lane.
The driver of the Isuzu box truck suffered serious injuries and was transported by Union County EMS to Morristown Medical Center Trauma Unit.
The driver of the Mack dump truck was not injured.
Police have not released the names of the injured people, pending notification to family members.
Mountainside Police are continuing to investigate the collision. They were assisted on the scene by the Mountainside Fire Department, Union County EMS and Atlantic Healthcare Paramedics.
