Pedestrian Struck by Car in Westfield on Central Ave. (Updated)

WESTFIELD, NJ — Update: A man who was struck by a car on Central Avenue near Grove Street early in evening of Nov. 4, though badly hurt, is reportedly expected to survive. He was transported to a nearby hospital after the accident, a source told The Alternative Press.

Westfield Police have confirmed only that there was an accident.

This is the second time a pedestrian was struck by a car in Westfield in one week. On the evening of Oct. 31, a girl was hit by a car on Dudley Ave. To read that story, click here.

Officers Carrero and Shaughnessy arrested Joseph A. Pankiewitz, age 48, of Fanwood, NJ, for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of North Avenue in Scotch Plains, NJ. Subject was transported to Westfield Police Department headquarters where he was processed and released to a sober and responsible adult.
