WESTFIELD, NJ--On Saturday, September 22, the Westfield High School Blue Devils football team played the Phillipsburg Liners at Gary Kehler Field in Westfield.
Phillipsburg started off the game with a 14-point lead before the end of first quarter. Just before halftime, the Blue Devils scored their first and only points, making the score 7 to 21. Phillipsburg continued to score throughout third quarter, but by fourth quarter neither team was scoring any points. In the end, Phillipsburg dominated with a score of 35 to 7.
This was a special game for the Marching Blue Devils, as it was Eighth Grade Music Day. Multiple eighth graders from Roosevelt Intermediate and Edison Intermediate Schools played festive tunes alongside the Westfield High School marching band during the halftime show. The crowd cheered as the high schoolers played Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" and Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" accompanied by the eighth grade students.
