CLARK, NJ - CLARK, NJ – Raritan Road will be closed to traffic between Central Avenue and Raritan Road on Friday, beginning at 9 p.m. until Saturday at 6 a.m., as road crews remove the unused railroad tracks that cross it. Local traffic will have access to Oh’ Brian’s on the Green. All other traffic will be detoured around the area.
The detour, or by-pass, will take motorists around the Garden State Parkway circle to the Valley Road exit and then to Walnut Avenue and vice versa.
All access to Shoprite and Rite-Aid will be through the stores' Central Avenue entrances. Both Shoprite Way and the Rite-Aid entrance on Raritan Road will be closed overnight.
It is uncertain at this time if the traffic signal at the corner of Raritan Road and Central Avenue will need to be turned off at any time during the evening’s work. Lt. Michael Pollock of the Clark Police Department said that if the light has to be shut off, like it was last week, traffic officers will be in the roadway to direct traffic.
Pollock urged motorists to stay alert when traveling through the area.
