Councilman Frank Arena is a 20 year resident of Westfield, where he and his wife Lori raised their children, Carli and Christopher, who are now attending college after graduating from Westfield High School.
Frank is a seasoned business sales executive with a 30-year career helping businesses and city governments improve efficiency while maintaining security and operational excellence within their mission critical IT systems.
Frank is an active supporter of the Westfield Soccer Association, Baseball League and United Fund. He is also the mayor’s current designee to the Westfield Recreation Commission, and formerly to the Downtown Westfield Corporation.
Frank has seven years of service on the town council, voting to forego pay each year. He is chair of the council's public works committee and member of the finance committee, where he oversaw the hiring of a new public works director and more police and fire professionals. Furthermore, he helped to formulate annual municipal budgets consistently below NJ's two percent cap, leading to a AAA bond rating while increasing Westfield’s natural disaster safety procedures and response time.
Frank was also instrumental in repaving over five miles of town roads this summer and fall, re-striping all crosswalks and revamping the town's conservation center to create a more efficient and user-friendly facility.
Going forward Frank looks to continue to decrease the town’s percentage of the overall property tax burden, continue road paving and an infrastructure improvement plan, increase one-seat NJ Transit service to New York and preserve Westfield’s reputation as one of New Jersey’s top family friendly towns, all while maintaining Downtown Westfield as a dining and shopping destination.
