The Foreign Language Awareness Group (FLAG) is now opening its registration for the 2017-18 classes.
FLAG is offering after-school French, Spanish and Mandarin classes to all Westfield K-5 students. The Spanish II class complements the public elementary school curriculum, allowing the students to reinforce their oral skills. The French classes provide excellent preparation for children who will elect that language in the sixth grade. Two separate Mandarin classes will be offered, an introductory class and a level II class for returning students.
The goal of FLAG’s creative educational programs is to give students confidence in expressing themselves in another language. Children are also made aware of other cultures, customs and lifestyles from around the world. Class sizes are small to ensure a comfortable and supportive learning environment.
FLAG is an independent, non-profit organization that has been offering language-training programs in the Westfield Schools for the past 28 years.
The 2017-18 Brochure and Registration Form are posted on every Westfield elementary school first day packet and website.
