WESTFIELD, NJ — Renovations to parking lot No. 7 in Downtown Westfield, across the street from the post office, are set to begin on or about Monday, Aug. 6, according to the Downtown Westfield Corporation.

The project will create more parking spaces, increase pedestrian safety measures in the lot and on Central Avenue and add decorative lighting and landscaping.

“We’re going to take away a piece of Lennox that runs alongside of the AT&T retail store and we’re going to increase parking by 19 spaces,” Public Safety, Transportation and Parking Committee Chair Michael Dardia said at a town council meeting in March.

The Downtown Westfield Corporation, through a program with Main Street NJ and NJ Department of Community Affairs, received a Downtown Business Improvement Zone Loan Fund grant of $150,000 at zero percent interest for the town of Westfield to assist with funding these improvements, the DWC said.
