WESTFIELD, NJ — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday to celebrate the completion of a new 70-unit luxury apartment building at 333 Central Ave. in Westfield. In attendance were executives from The Hampshire Companies, Claremont Companies, Circle Squared Alternative Investments, project investors and Westfield officials including Mayor Andy Skibitsky.
“We’re excited we’re going to have 131 new apartments coming on within the next year or so, and this is our first 70 of them,” Mayor Andy Skibitsky said to everyone in attendance.
“When I’m downtown and I talk to restaurateurs and the business owners, they’re extremely excited to have this project completed and people moving in and walking downtown and enjoying all the amenities that Westfield has to offer,” Skibitsky said. “This is important to Westfield. It’s important to our residents.”
Skibitsky also spoke about the apartments’ appeal to empty nesters and young people transitioning from cities to Westfield.
James Hanson of The Hampshire Companies spoke about working with the town Westfield.
“In New Jersey, we know towns that are very easy to work with and others that can be very difficult, and so I want to thank the mayor and the council for really being a great town to work with to make this project a reality,” Hanson said.
The four-story, 126,340-square-foot pet-friendly building features a variety of unit layouts ranging from 700 square feet to 1,550 square feet, with pricing ranging from $2,100 to $3,000 per month for a one-bedroom apartment and from $3,000 to $4,500 per month for a two-bedroom apartment. The site lies within the town’s “affordable housing, multi-family zone” and nine of its apartments are affordable housing units, available to qualified renters, which fit the Council on Affordable Housing definitions ranging from “very low” to “moderate” in price range.
Layouts renters can choose from at 333 Central include one or two-bedrooms with select units featuring a den and a private terrace. Every unit includes hardwood floors throughout, 9’ ceilings, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, walk-in closets and a washer and dryer. Community amenities include secure and covered parking (more than 120 parking spaces in all), a lounge with a wet bar for entertaining, a state-of-the art gym with a yoga room, a rooftop lounge and additional storage units located on each floor.
Perhaps the building’s biggest selling point is its location — 333 Central is convenient to New Jersey’s major roadways, including Routes 22 and 28, I-78, and the Garden State Parkway. The building is walking distance to the train station and Downtown Westfield.
Jeffrey Sica, founder and president of Circle Squared Alternative Investments called Westfield a “marquee town.”
“I remember when I was younger, growing up in Morris County, hearing about Westfield and having this sense of awe about what Westfield was all about,” Sica said.
