LINDEN, NJ — A man from Roselle has died and another has been charged with murder in the Tuesday evening shooting in the parking lot at the 7-Eleven on St. George’s Ave. in Linden, according to acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan and Linden Police Chief David Hart.
According to authorities, Darwin Cadet, 18, of Roselle has been charged with murder and two related weapons offenses in the death of 27-year-old Brian Pierre, also from Roselle, after they were involved in a shooting that took place in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on St. George’s Ave. in Linden on Tuesday evening.
Police said that at approximately 10:30 p.m. Linden and Roselle police were called to the 1800 block of East St. Georges Avenue (Route 27) on a report of shots being fired.
Upon arrival, Police reported they found Pierre in the parking lot at the 7-Eleven, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Authorities said Pierre died while being transported to a local hospital.
A Union County Homicide Task Force investigation, assisted by Linden and Roselle Police, Union County Sheriff’s Office Identification Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit resulted in Cadet being identified as a suspect in the case.
Authorities said Cadet was taken into custody charged and lodged in Union County Jail pending a first appearance and detention hearing to take place in Superior Court.
