METUCHEN, NJ -- Saint Joseph High School (Metuchen) senior Brett Subers has advanced to Finalist standing in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.6 million high school students enter the program each year. Winners of Merit Scholarship® awards are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments (without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference).

Brett represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, and now has the opportunity to receive a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, in addition to scholarships from participating corporations, colleges and universities.
