WESTFIELD, NJ — Monday afternoon’s torrential rains caused flooding around town, turning several streets into mini rivers.
On Mountain Avenue, the water came up to the wheel wells of cars.
Petra Guglielmetti, who lives on Barchester Way, estimated that water was as much as a foot deep in some places on her street. She joked about her new “lakefront” property.
“We were watching cars drive through in big waves,” she said.
Trees and branches fell as a result of the winds and rain, and some Westfield PSE&G customers lost power.
A fire on Windsor Avenue was likely caused by a surge of electricity as a result of lightning. To read more about that, click here.
