WESTFIELD, NJ — An Edison Intermediate School student was struck by a car Thursday morning while crossing the street in front of the school. According to Police Chief David Wayman, he was transported to a hospital with a laceration.
In an email to parents, Principal Matt Bolton wrote that the student appeared to be doing well, and that he was following the crossing guard’s directions and walking in the crosswalk when it happened.
Westfield Public Schools issued the following statement:
There was a medical emergency this morning involving one of our students who attends Edison Intermediate School. The student appeared to be doing well after the incident and is being seen by a doctor. We appreciate the quick action taken by Westfield’s first responders.
In a similar incident in 2012, two students were struck by a car while in the crosswalk in front of Edison School.
