UNION COUNTY, NJ — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the region.

At 7:51 p.m., the National Weather Service issued the warning for parts of northern and central New Jersey. The warning remains in effect until 8:30 p.m., the weather bulletin said.

“Prepare immediately for large hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning,” the forecast states. “Seek shelter inside a well-built structure. Stay away from windows.”

The Weather Service has also issued a small stream flood advisory for the region. The flood advisory issued at 7:26 p.m. expires at 9 p.m., the weather statement said.
