WESTFIELD, NJ — A severe thunderstorm spotted over Edison is headed toward southern Union County, according to the National Weather Service.

At 3:26 p.m. the Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning that remains in effect until 4:30 p.m. for the region.

Forecasters warned of 60 mph wind gusts and hail the size of quarters.

The thunderstorm will be near Clark around 3:40 p.m., the Weather Service said.

A flash flood warning remains in effect until 6:45 p.m., according to the Weather Service.

The forecasters anticipate flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low-lying areas.
