WESTFIELD, NJ – A 14-year-old boy reported that he was attacked in the vicinity of Windsor Avenue and Ripley Place on Friday, Jan. 24, at about 9 p.m., according to Westfield police. The victim, who lives in Westfield, said he was walking with two other juveniles when six suspects physically assaulted him and took his iPhone and one of his sneakers. The suspects fled the scene in a black van, he told cops.

Westfield police located the van about two hours later in the area of West North Ave. and Central Ave. The victim's iPhone was discovered in the van. According to the PD, the driver of the van, Mark Kotulski, 20, of Clark was arrested along the others inside; a 16-year-old from Clark, a 16-year-old from Garwood and two 15-year-olds, one 16-year-old and one 17-year-old from Plainfield.

The suspects were taken to the Westfield Police Department where they were charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree theft and simple assault.

Kotulski was released on $50,000.00 bail with a court date at Union County Superior Court. The juveniles were processed and released.
