“Celebrating Mike!”, an evening of toasts, roasts, and good cheer honoring Mike Kenny, community leader and Building Superintendent of Temple Emanu-El, will be held on Saturday, May 14 at the Temple, 756 East Broad St., Westfield.

“Mike is a man of conscience, integrity, and service who truly cares about improving the world around him,” stated Temple President Shep Federgreen, who described him as “a man for all seasons.” For the past twenty years, Kenny’s commitment, leadership, and support have been critical in meeting the challenges and demands of the congregation of over 1,100 families. Temple members recount that Mike is ever-present onsite to prepare for religious services, special events, and school activities. Others note his professionalism combined with a ready smile and good nature.

In addition to his dedication to the Temple, Mike has worked tirelessly to support numerous charities and causes in the larger community, especially those that aid children and the town of Westfield. He has served on the Executive Board of the Healing Community at Fairview Lake, a camp for children and families living with HIV/AIDS; he has raised funds for the Tourette’s Syndrome Association of New Jersey; served four years as President of the AIDS Benefit Committee of NJ; organized benefits for local families in need; and kicked up his heels as part of the Washington School Players.

Event festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. and will also include an auction of fabulous goods and services, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner. The cost is $85 per person. For tickets and information, contact Carolyn Shane, Executive Director, at 908-232-6770, extension 114 or cshane@tewnj.org by April 22.
