On Monday, May 9, Temple Emanu-El’s Early Childhood Education Program, under the direction of Elyse Everett, Assistant Director, held a school-wide celebration to celebrate Yom Ha’Atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. The 170 children, who are part of the Early Childhood Education Program, marched around the Temple, sang festive songs, and then enjoyed blue and white ices. The children marched with their teachers, sang songs led by Music Specialist Jill Brody, and displayed the creative posters, streamers, hats, flags and pictures they made to mark this special day.

The Temple’s Early Childhood Education Program includes children from ages two to six.  The program is accredited by the National Association of the Education of the Young Child (NAEYC).  The Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebration reflects the Temple’s philosophy that children learn through active play and exploration in a multi-sensory environment.  For further information call Jill Cimafonte, Director of Early Childhood Education, Temple Emanu-El, 756 East Broad Street, Westfield at (908) 232-6770 ext 130.
