It is imperative that Chief of Police David Wayman and the entire Westfield Police Department are recognized for the utterly outstanding job they performed at the Westfield Washington's Women's March yesterday, Jan. 21.
As we realized the numbers of marchers were reaching unexpected, epic proportions the day before, they quickly problem-solved the original march configuration that would not have accommodated such a large group, traffic and the entire community safely.
Chief Wayman and his department were like a trustworthy family you could count on for making smart decisions, as well as citizens of the highest character who honor the power of our First Amendment rights. Without them, this global event right here in town would not have been possible.
