WESTFIELD, NJ — On May 5, The Birthday Box received a Unity Achievement Award in the non-profit organization category from the Union County Human Relations Commission. The organization, a 501c3 non-profit that was founded in 2010 by two Westfield moms, delivers a cake, candles, party utensils and a wrapped gift to children in need so they can celebrate their birthdays.

“We are so proud to be recognized by the Union County Human Relations Commission. We founded The Birthday Box four years ago as a way to help ensure all children get to enjoy a fun-filled birthday celebration — receiving a Unity Achievement Award for this work is a great honor," said Jennifer Wilner, co-founder.

Co-founder Stacy Bergerman added, “We look forward to bringing more joy to kids and families in and around Union County and hope this acknowledgement creates more awareness for The Birthday Box and encourages others to help support our cause.”

Recently, Shop Rite in Clark agreed to a “buy one, get one” cake partnership with Birthday Box. And The Birthday Box just partnered with the Plainfield Area Y, which will identify children at that Y in need of birthday assistance so that The Birthday Box can provide boxes for them.
