WESTFIELD, NJ — The Flower Shop held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this weekend to celebrate its grand opening at 1120 South Ave. West. Partners Barbara Murphy and Lisa Corrao opened the store in May. The two hit it off while Murphy worked at another florist shop in town and Corrao was working on the wholesale side of the business.
“We decided we love what we do. Why not do it together?” Murphy said.
The partners hope to inspire people to enjoy flowers more often, whether it’s men bringing bouquets home to their wives or sons giving blooms to their mothers.
“We want to make people happy. That’s what it’s all about,” Murphy said. “We do everything. It’s not just one kind of style. We’ll order whatever flower. It’s not what we like—it’s what you like.”
At the grand opening party for the ribbon cutting were Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Gene Jannotti, GWACC board member and Garwood Councilman Mike Martin and GWACC First Vice Presidnt Maria Fuentes
