FANWOOD, NJ — Ronald Shovlin can be a softie when it comes to doing good deeds.
So when Darlene Panzitta, president of the New Jersey chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, asked the Westfield resident and owner of Shovlin Mattress Factory in Fanwood how they could partner to help someone out on March 29 — worldwide “Good Deeds Day” — Shovlin had just the deed in mind.
“Darlene decided to help my business by purchasing a mattress and asked me to find someone who needs one,” Shovlin said. “A local family had come in earlier in the week to look for mattresses but said they couldn't afford them at the moment, so I reached out to them. Darlene paid for the first mattress, and we decided to pay it forward and added two more.”
Entrepreneurs’ Organization is a global, peer-to-peer network of more than 14,000 influential business owners with 196 chapters in 62 countries. It enables leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow, leading to greater success in business and beyond.
Shovlin, a member of the New Jersey chapter, is the association’s president-elect.
“All the stars aligned,” Shovlin said. “We are part of the community and try to give back as much as we can.”
