SUMMIT, NJ - The 7th Annual TryCAN "Baseball Under the Lights," hosted by TryCAN and the Summit Department of Community Programs, will take place June 17 at Jefferson Elementary School Field.
A tailgate begins at 6:30 p.m., with the game following at 7:15 p.m. Family, friends, teen peer volunteers and coaches will all be on hand to cheer on the baseball talents of these special kids.
The event is supported by Summit Junior Baseball, Sharkey’s Snack Shack, the Summit FMBA, the Summit Fire Department, Thompson Sporting Goods, and the Summit Elks Lodge. Rosters are now full, but all community members are invited and encouraged to attend, even for a short visit, to support the kids. TryCAN Summer Programs Detailed
All summer camps meet on Sundays - June 28, July 12, 19, and 26
Dance and Movement camp will see children, ages 5-8, participate in a unique learning environment as they move with use of traditional music and songs, creative movement, dance and rhythms, games and props that provide sensory stimulation, art, and storytelling. Group meets 11 - 11:45 a.m.
Mini Yoga camp will see children, ages 8-12, use breathing and other calming techniques plus fun poses and games to learn respect for themselves and others while improving body awareness and ability to relax. Group meets 11:50 a.m. - 12:35 a.m.
Dance and Movement camp, designed for older youth, ages 10-15, who will have a blast learning new ways to move to their favorite music while improving flexibility and coordination and provide sensory stimulation. Group meets 12:40 - 1:25 p.m.
All summer camps meet at the Summit Community Center, located at 100 Morris Avenue, and are led by Michele Goldin, Expert Dance and Movement Therapist and assisted by teen peer volunteers, who help the kids participate and have fun.
