The Westfield Board of Health met on October 3, 2011.

The seasonal influenza vaccination program is on-going.  Additional flu vaccination clinics are scheduled and the sites are posted on the Westfield Regional Health Department website  http://www.westfieldnj.gov/health.  In addition, residents can call Ms. Laura Scanlon, the Public Health Nursing Supervisor, at 908-789-4070, extension 4074, to schedule a flu vaccination appointment at the health department office in the Municipal Building.  There is a $10 cash fee for each person vaccinated who does not have Medicare.

Regarding the pick-up of dead animals on public property and streets, a clarification.  For concerns regarding all animals except deer, residents can call the town’s free animal control service program at the Associated Humane Society, 973-824-7080.  To have a dead deer removed, please call the Health Department at 908-789-4070.  The department will contact the NJ Department of Transportation, which collects dead deer from public places.  Unfortunately, it may take days for the NJDOT to get the dead deer.  For more information, please call Mr. Ken Pincus, the Principal Registered Environmental Health Specialist, at 908-789-4070, extension 4072.
