St. Joseph Social Service Center (SJSSC) in Elizabeth is in urgent need of temporary space for about two weeks. The space should be approximately the size of a gym or cafeteria in Union County (2,000 – 2,500 square feet).

Every year for the past 30 years, St. Joseph Social Service Center has served local families and people in need during the holiday season with Christmas packages and gifts. St. Joseph’s Social Service Center and a huge staff of volunteers set up a receiving zone where generous donors drop off gifts for the Giving Tree Program. They use this space to sort and wrap the packages for the families and individuals in need during the holidays for the period from Dec. 1 through Dec. 18. The facility would need to have heat, be secure and offer restrooms for the volunteers. There is no question this is an important service to those in need in Union County.

Schools, churches or commercial office spaces are great candidates. If you know of or can offer a space suitable for this annual event, please call 908-352-2989 Ext. 3 or email info@sjeliz.org.

“We have a team of volunteers ready to support the 2015 Giving Tree program and continue the tradition of providing the spirit of Christmas and the holidays to those in need. If we had to discontinue this program because of a lack of space it would dim the spirit of Christmas for Union County” said Sr. Jacinta Fernandes, Executive Director.
