MONTCLAIR, NJ — A video of a road rage incident that occurred on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair has been circulating the internet since Sunday evening.
Although no formal release has been issued by the Montclair Police Department, law enforcement officials have said that they are investigating the matter that involves two motorists fighting and what appears to be a potential case of animal cruelty.
Horrified residents have commented numerous times on the video and are calling for harsh penalties for the suspects.
The video, first posted on Streamable.com, shows two men fighting in the street across from Lackawanna Plaza. One appears to be driving a red Honda and the other a silver Toyota minivan.
As the two men fight with their cars pulled over haphazardly to the side of Bloomfield Avenue, a third person is recording the incident from another vehicle.
The minivan driver pushes the other man to the ground. The driver of the red Honda then gets up, goes over to the minivan, reaches in and grabs a small dog from inside the vehicle and throws the dog onto the sidewalk.
You could then hear the screams from the third party. The driver of the red Honda then speeds off as the dog runs back toward the minivan. It is unclear of what happens to the dog.
From the video, it is has been determined that one of the vehicles driven had a Lyft sticker. Representatives from Lyft have expressed outrage and said they have terminated their partnership with the driver in question based on the video footage and express that they will be cooperating with authorities to assist in the investigation.
