WESTFIELD, NJ — The Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library are looking for volunteers to help with their 44th annual spring book sale, planned for April 25 through April 29. Proceeds from the sale will go directly toward funding Friends-sponsored programs, which include children’s programs, a speaker series, museum passes and trips to the opera.

Friends member Marcy Lechner said at a recent town council meeting that the sale is like a pop-up book store.

“By the way, if you’re doing any spring cleaning, please check all your bookshelves. We’ll take them,” Lechner said.

Donations will be accepted at the library on April 19, 20 and 21.

“Children’s books, cooking books, business books, adult books — there’s usually about 30,000 books available when the sale starts, so we need people to come and sort the books, shelve the books and then work the book sale,” Lechner said.

To volunteer, email Lechner at wmlvolunteers@gmail.com. Community Service hours will be granted.
