As a culminating activity to their study of World War II and genocide, eighth grade students at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison embarked on a culminating project after their study of political propaganda and reading of Animal Farm by George Orwell. They used skills developed in English and history classes to explore the thesis (central argument) conveyed by an example of political propaganda and create their own antithesis (counter argument).
 
The project required that students identify the specific methods of information manipulation utilized, such as Bandwagon, Card Stacking, Fear, Ad Hominem, and Transfer and explore how image and text work together to create powerful messages aimed at swaying public opinion.
