A high school violinist has shown that she has more than one string to her bow by winning a competition to design a new logo for a long-standing supporter of the arts in Westfield schools.
Morgan Eng, a junior at Westfield High School, designed the logo for the Westfield Coalition for the Arts (WCA), an organization that has been providing financial support for music, drama, visual arts and dance in the town for more than 30 years.
WCA Treasurer Wendy Connolly said, “The WCA has never replaced/updated their logo and we thought it was time for a change.
“It was important to have a logo that represented all of the arts that are currently featured as part of the curriculums in all Westfield schools. Morgan’s design accomplishes that and is both modern and unique.”
Art is an important part of Morgan’s life. She recently won a student achievement award for her role as graphic designer for the WHS spring musical, Follies, and was also a member of the show’s orchestra.
The 17-year-old hopes to study animation in college and translate her passion for art into a career.
The new logo will be used extensively to identify the WCA and act as a symbol of their concern for all the arts on grant forms, correspondence, social media and their website.
