WESTFIELD, NJ — The Kiwanis Club of Greater Westfield will host the town’s 84th annual Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 7 and younger on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. in Mindowaskin Park.
Don’t be late — the plastic eggs (which are empty) are usually snatched up within minutes. The children will receive bags of gourmet jelly beans afterward, according to Kiwanis Club of Greater Westfield President J.M. Jones.
“Participants and their parents are asked to assemble in the playground area of the park by 12:45 p.m. as the hunt will start precisely at 1 p.m., weather permitting,” Jones said.
The free hunt, taken over by Kiwanis from the Lions Club last year, will be similar to previous years.
“There will be three age-appropriate areas set aside for the children: toddler to age 3; 4- and 5-year olds; and 6- and 7-year olds,”Jones said.
The Easter Bunny will be available from noon on for parents to take pictures of with their children.
All aspects of the event are free, but voluntary donations will be accepted to help defray the costs of the hunt, Jones said.
In the event of poor weather, is no rain date.
