WESTFIELD, NJ — On Monday, Oct. 20, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., the Westfield United Fund will host its first-ever Westfield Area Volunteer Expo (WAVE) at the Bauer Branch of the Westfield Area Y, 422 E. Broad St. More than 25 local agencies will be there to meet with prospective volunteers, including CASA, Community Access Unlimited, CONTACT We Care, Habitat for Humanity, Homefirst, Jewish Family Service, Mobile Meals, the Westfield Food Pantry at Holy Trinity, the Westfield Historical Society, the Westfield Service League and the Westfield Rescue Squad.
“There are 'jobs’ to fit all skills and schedules,” said Deirdre M. Gelinne, executive director of the Westfield United Fund. “Attending the Westfield Area Volunteer Expo is an excellent way for members of the Westfield community who want to give back to learn about various volunteer opportunities. The local non-profits participating in the expo will be able to share information about their respective organizations with prospective volunteers. We think of it as a type of ‘clearing house,’ matching those wanting to volunteer with organizations seeking those individuals.”
The Westfield United Fund is partnering with the Downtown Westfield Corporation, the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the Westfield Area Y for this event.
